Racer48

the man on dirt
ok so i picked up an r154 and everything i need to swap it into the car the other day, but before i put it in there i was wondering what are some common things that are recomended to change/fix before installing (besides the seals of course). Any comments would be welcome.

thanks,
dylan

If you know the internals are good, I would just go with a Toyota seal kit... should have the small seals for the speed sensor, speedo gear, and a few other small ones, as well as the rear seal I think.

If the internals are questionable, I'd do the rebuild kit (comes w/synchros, bearings, and the bigger seals).

For an easy mod, the Marlin Crawler shift bushings make a world of difference in the feel of the shifter.

I am almost finished w/my rebuild and after the Marlin Crawler upgrades... was at about $550 in parts.... Rebuild kit alone is about half (~$259). Depends on what you wanna do.
