Has anyone dynoed their stock Mk3 supra turbo?

This is just a curious question that I had lingering for a while. I know that Toyota advertised 232 HP @ 5600 rpm with later models of the supra (1990-1992). I was wondering what the WHP would be on a stock. I know about the 15% - 20% HP loss due to automatic/manual transmission and crank shaft translation but I never knew a real number HP readout at the wheels. If anyone has done one, do you mind sharing your results? Thanks! Since I have a stock supra (auto) I'm expecting 185 WHP off an stock mk3 with respect to 20% HP loss of 232 crank HP. (In terms of stock, I mean straight out of the factory. Sure some air intake mods but nothing too dramatic to increase horsepower/flow.) Is that true compared to your results?

Thanks, Branden

we saw 173rwhp this summer at a dyno event on a 88 7mgte R154, only mod was a 3" elbow and downpipe. On a mustang dyno mind you.

damn , that's a big loss of hp... 60 hp drivetrain loss from 232 flywheel hp!
Thought it was around 190-195 to the wheel for the turbo model...

Mass production prohibits all cars from being either 230/246 or 232/256. Boost varies from automatic to manual with the fluid coupling. Specifically, boost will vary from 4.8-7.5 psi stock. That is by the book.

Well, standard drivetrain losses are 15-25% and I'm sure the motor was worn at least a little bit. 170whp seems about right, unfortunately. Thankfully, you can up that quite a bit with just a boost controller. ;-)

There a thread on here about dyno results. You can get a feel for what's possible with a given set of mods.

Sweet. Before I use a boost controller should I re-torque my HG just in case or do you think I'm fine with a little extra boost? If I were to go down this route of having a boost controller, I would set my boost limit to 8 (just because AT only allow around 4.8 - 6.8 psi of boost).

I know the auto is a limitation of power at some point because it can only hold so much torque. I'm not sure where that point is.

For a retorque, unless you just did a HG job, I'm not opinionated either way. Tightening is probably worthwhile, just be sure to follow the OEM torque sequence. You'll probably want to break them all loose as little as possible (1/16th turn or less if you can) right before tightening.

Be prepared for a BHG. It's inevitable on any 7M built to factory specs. If it hasn't happened yet, it will soon.

My first dyno was 256 whp with hks doe pipe and 65mm cat back with a cat and k&n filter 7-10 psi on mbc
