I bought a "slightly used" GT35R turbo on ebay from a 100% ebayer a few months ago for my rebuild. I went to replace the turbine housing and come to find out the turbine wheel is f'ed up. Something must have got in there and gound down the turbine wheel. It looked fine looking from the housing in. Is the turbine wheel replaceable on a gt35R?

I read garret doent offer replacement parts. If I cant source a tubine wheel, can I buy a used beat up gt35r and just take the wheel off to replace my danmaged one?

Lesson learned..... BUY NEW!!!!!!!!!

Pics? It might not be damaged, it might be ground for balance. I know the first time I saw a balanced wheel I thought it was all screwed up.

Yea, Ive been trying to do that. I cant figure out which name he went by. But I doubt anything will happen. I'm figuring my options now so I can have the back up plan ready

I guess I was thinking the fins would look a lot worse than that. They don't look that chew'd up to me. I was told that it would cost about six hundred dollars to rebuild one. I have the gt35r and I think they're only $1350 brand new. Maybe you can find someone to rebuild it cheaper if it has to be rebuilt. Good luck.

I come from a land down under
They only sell the Turbines as a CHRA (Centre Housing Rotating Assembly) as far as I know so doing it this way isn't that far off the price for a complete turbo.

I don't know what you mean by "beat up turbo" if it's beat up likely it's unservicable and you're back where you are now just with 2 paper weights instead of 1.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the mechanics of the turbo. You cant just unbolt the turbine wheel to replace it with another? It looks like there is a bolt there holding the wheel on. What I mean by buying a beat up turbo is to just take the turbine wheel off the beat up one and put it on mine. Is this too beat up to become a "clipped" wheel?

The wheel has to be balanced. If it's a BB center section, it's a lot more difficult to rebuild.

OK, so there are aboslutly no options for me besides get a new turbo or get it rebuilt for just about the same price correct.

What would you do in this case? I doubt anything is going to happen to the seller of this peice of garbage.

PLEASE!!!! SOMEONE MAKE THE PAIN STOP!!!!!

Why don't you research how much for or if the center section can even be rebuilt before you start look at a new turbo.

You are correct however...it will need to be rebuilt or get a new turbo.
