Great build man!! Hope it all goes well for you.

Thanks! It has been going well so far. I'm hoping to have the car running by May 5th for a car meet.

Bro this build just got me fully torqued!!! Me likey the mkII 7m mixer

Fully torqued, eh? Getting some Workaholics humor going on in here? I appreciate the kind words.

Also, for anyone who is wondering; John Burton did a write up on how to setup an MSII and I've been in contact with him asking millions of questions. This is the basic explanation:

I lost a capacitor, so c13 still needs soldered on; otherwise the board is complete.

Now on to the engine harness!

Just fyi, youtube came up with a shortened way to share links for twitter and such. In addition to writing "youtube.com/watch?v=blahblahblah", "youtu.be/blahblahblah" will also do the same.

Great build!

Should of known! Thanks for the info.

Started the engine harness tonight. This is looking to be a cake work compared to the board! I'm waiting on an email back from John and have a handful of other questions for him. But tomorrow after work I'm hoping to dive in and start some cutting and soldering. I think I'll start with the reference ground and the flyback mod power; then start closest to the firewall and work the other direction.

I've been working religiously on things for the last week or two.

Jimstim firing. Hope this is right...

Is this white plug oil pressure going to the dash gauge? I imagine theres a plug for this; I probably have it somewhere...

CPS modification is done.

How the engine currently sits.

Getting closer! Hoping to have it crank/running in the next week or two.

Short update:

I put some miles on the car this last week. Took it to a car show/autocross (obviously didn't run it) this last weekend. Had a couple issues, two different big coolant leaks. Finally picked up my last plug for the harness, so I got it loomed tonight. I'm talking with a friend about trading radiators, this one just doesn't fit the best in a mkII. I need to work on the tune, but I been getting around on John's tune. I've been constantly watching the AFR's and everything seems to be pretty rich, so I'm not too concerned about driving it some.

Harness? Where? Oh, ok... you see it a little.
p1832467_2.jpg

Now I just need to figure out if this is the correct sensor for the temp gauge on the dash cluster:
p1832467_3.jpg

(Also, I most likely need to move this sensor on to the other side of the thermostat... as it won't read correctly until the thermostat opens)

Anyhow, let me know what you guys think!

great tig work on page one, love these body shapes great thread so far

To clarify, I didn't do any of the welding in this thread. The intake manifold was done by Ron R, the intercooler pipes were done by Nightmare Motorsports, the flange welding and throttle cable mount were done by 515 Customs, and the oil pan was done by Beech Performance.

man that harness looks great I just went threw a old harness i got. It was a lot of work looks good.

Thanks! The harness started as a flying lead. I used a handful of plugs from the stock harness, but otherwise it's all new wiring. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Switching to Megasquirt got rid of half the stock electronics, I was really surprised! It got rid of: Injector resistor, ignitor, knock sensors, afm, o2, anything egr (or whatever used to be on the lower intake), half the electronics in the cps, half the coolant sensors, etc.

It's not a direct plug and play. Tony made his own harness using a flying lead harness as stated above and the board for that matter. There is no stock ecu in the car at all. The way he was instructed to wire the car he was also able to remove the ignitor and fuel injector resistor both.
