German 1JZ powered R32 Skyline

Hi guys,

first I thought I will only made an acount for me here to get some informations, but that is a bit :3d_frown: tbh..
So, here is my car:

It's a 1JZ powered R32 Skyline, which I build to drift it I'm now on the way sort out everything out (make a custom wiring loom) and throw some nice performance parts into it. I hope to get about 500 wheel HP out of it.

Right now it's just a stupid shitbox. Multiple colors and nothing made in a good way. The wiring loom ist the biggest problem: The car started it's life as a 2,5L Nissan NA Engine. But after swapping the engine they haven't changed the whole loon, no they have connected the JZ wires to the Nissan loom.. First I thought about ripping out everything I don't need and just drive it. But it's rotten, broken and just rubish. So Now I rip out every wire and make my own wiring loom lol

All I can say is make sure we get lots of pics, and good luck! Changing a Toyota harness from one model to another is hard enough. I can't imagine trying from Toyota to Nissan. I just don't see why they went for a 1JZ and not the RB26

Just a thought how much more dificult is this swap to a 1jz in a 240sx/silvia if not that different it may be worth to ask the 240 guys

I dont really understand putting a 1jz in a skyline, rather than an rb26 or rb28, unless the rb's are simply unavailable.
To me, its like pulling a 351 cleveland out of a mustang in order to fit a 350 chevy motor in it. Either way though, it's a great car. Good luck with the wiring job.

We have just a few 1JZ swaps into other cars (mostly E36 BMW) over here but when someone decided to do it, they always wire up a new loom, because they use it just for drifting, like me. So I only need fuel from the tank to the engine, ignition and bit of light ;-)

That's pretty simple: in europe a RB26 cost about 5000$ without any modifications. A strong gearbox for it about 2200$. And the correct loom with an good ECU about 2500$. An das1JZ with the good old R154, a loom and an ECU cost's under 5000$ for the whole package. RB28 are even more expensive ;-)
But I decided to buy the 1JZ because of it's sound and it's ability to handle a lot of hp without forged internals. If it dies i can buy a new one for under 1000$ from England or so ;-)

RB28s? im pretty sure that the RB28s your speaking of is basically the 3.4L stroker kits like we got for the 2JZ, or IFFF you could find one, in good shape, the RB30blocks (the heads were only single cams) and having to swap it, when i was living in japan, i saw accually quite a few Nissan cars with JZ swaps in them, why? i dont know, but those cars were simply craizyer then the RB cars.

Damn, I forgot to give you guys an update about my ride!

Just for the case someone wants to ask me why I don't want to drift anymore, why I had to use a 1JZ for it: Because I want! I thought about it for a long time, is it a good idea spending almost every cent I earn as an apprentice, which will definetly have at some day a crash. Also I was always a friend of getting a car around a corner as quick as possible, which was another point for my decision.
So follow the project, it will take a bit longer I'm afraid, but there will be a lot more pictures in the future.

I had to do it, because the downpipe was welded straight to the exhaust housing of the turbo..




Take a look at the pice which is down right of the flange, I don't know who/what welded it, but it was aweful to see that..






The engine and gearbox were finally out, thanks to my dad!

I've also decided to rip out all the wires, to know exactly what I have in the car. No fucked up wires as before (I've never seen anything like it..) and I can paint the engine bay and the inside of the car when it get's a bit warmer..

Just a small update, work is extremly hard right now before christmas:

I bough a cometic head gasket, the cylinderhead will go to an engine specialist next month.
