Gearbox problems

Hi,
Maybe some knows how you have to check oil level in a340e auto tranny.
Does the car need to be running or does the engine has to be off.
Thanks alot for answers.

needs to be running.

Needs to be running AND up to temp.
ATF expands quite a bit as it heats up.
So take it out for a drive, and then check it.
