i just got my rebuild motor running yesterday, drove it around, niceee and easy, everything going good except for some little vacuum leaks here and there that i will fix later, otehrwise the car ran great.

i changed the oil after a few hours of running it around town real easy, still everything good.

took a girl out :icon_mrgr in the supra, running open downpipe! (ill tell you one thing, you dont need a bitch mute button on your stereo to quiet her down if you are running open DP!)

after i dropped her off i boosted on it a little to see if everything was alright, and the rear freeze out plug blew out, the one right near the starter.

i didnt let the car over heat, i was luckily near a friends house so i parked the car there and went out drinking with him to forget about the car troubles!

anyway, WHY did the freeze out plug blow out? my builder didnt seat the thing in there all the way?

also, how hard is it to replace the damn thing with the motor inside of the car?

I come from a land down under
When you install freeze plugs a lot of people tap them in slowly, this squashes them slightly and removes the interference fit needed to hold them in.

I use a socket that's a loose fit tap them in 1>2mm making sure they're square in the hole then smack em the rest of the way in with 1>2 hits.
(I also use permatex #4 on them and clean the hole with 320 sandpaper before fitting)

Doing it this way I've never had one leak/come out.

Another horrible possible cause might be a split in the block out from the hole :( (really hope it's not).

hah imagine that. naw i dont think its that serious, the motor was just rebuilt, so my builder probably just didnt get the fucking thing to seat right.

i just hope i have enough room in there to bang the new one in there good.

Lagged: Might be hard all your steering and brake stuff is on that side!
(I had a look at mine and it looks easy enough once the starter is out of the way but I'm RHD)
