Found this when i removed my throttle body

Dumb*** previous owner used silicone. Been like this for YEARS! Lol. Cleaned inside tha mani, made the TB like new, also took apart the iscv and cleaned it, and used a real gasket. First time in many years the car can actually breath now. it ran like it never ran before lol i bet those little pieces of silicone are long gone.. or maybe not?

Some aftermarket tb gaskets are quite bit smaller than the actual size.

There was no gasket there, only silicone. The gasket i got fitted perfectly around and was not smaller than the tb.

Looks like a gasket. And prolly silicone as well. Silicone doesn't make sharpe lines like that.

i had a similiar problem on my 7mgte, the gasket was blocking off the "PCV" chamber bit.

It probably did have a smaller gasket with a bunch of silicone, but there's no sign of the gasket anywhere.

I think he's saying silicone gasket. As in the gasket was made of silicone.

What ever it was, it was brittle and hard.
