Check this thing out, seems like it sends and receives Morse Code signals.

Anyone know anything about these? I have a photo of some sort of engraving it has on it. I cant really make out what it says with my naked eye so I'm in the process of enhancing it.

It's called a telegraph ;)

That's how shit was first done wirelessly. *sigh* I love old antiques like that. PLEASE do not throw it away - I'd love to refurbish something like that!!

Wow,that's a nice find!
A real piece of communication history!
I would rercommend just cleaning it well and leaving it as is

I was thinking about giving it to my circuit theory professor to fix up real nice for me. Hes 70,000 years old so he will love it.

even though they aren't worth all that much....

Imagine the thing in basement or "games room" maybe in a den. That thing would make a really great piece with it's brass parts polished to a mirror shine and it's metal parts re plated, the wood sanded, re stained and re varnished to a mirror gloss...

perhaps make a small glass case for it, with a little light on it.

damn, now I kinda want one.

If you're interested in restoring it, www.caswellplating.com has all kind of polishing and plating supplies that would be perfect for such a thing.
