fluxuating tempature

I havent had a 7m in years but this is happening . car runs cool the the temp shoots up and then goes back to normal again . So far ive changed the radaiator cap and imma go for the thermostat .. thanks

is it raising under a load?
mine did this and it ended up being my timing was way off.

How far up is it "shooting"? It would definately help if you gave more details such as if your driving, Is your a/c on, any mods to cooling system such as electric fans.etc

It sounds to me like your thermostat is sticking and not opening right away at the right temperature.

id lean towards air in the system, or low collant. the temp sensor is designed to read water temp, not air.
