Eating eggs for breakfast is good. I've read people that eat eggs in the morning usually eat something like 30% less throughout the day than those that eat cereal or oatmeal or similar.

Don't count calories. Although you see bread as having a lot of calories, it's actually something you need to eat for a balanced meal. And definitely don't eat most of your calories in the evening.

Small snacks are good to eat during the day.Like fruit and grains or maybe yogurt. Canned tuna and crackers is good as well as chicken breasts and grilled fish.

30 mins of cardio per day would be good.

It's funny because I really think it comes down to genetics, I'm 6 foot 160 pounds and i'm having trouble gaining weight.

Genetics definitely plays a part, so does discipline...which i am still working on. Im 6'1 and 255 right now shooting to get down to 225...the books all say 190 is my ideal weight, but my personal Doc, two specialists and two Dr friends all said 190 is way to low for me. reading this thread helped me already get back to planning out my meals, cutting down on eating out and drinking more water (carry a bottle around with me at all times again).

I have found that eating a good breakfast makes a BIG difference in how i feel throughout the day as well as eat less.

Anyone try making their own breakfast/snack bars?

I have a shit-ton of quick, healthy recipes.

Here is one of my faves - Warm Thai Beef salad:

-Lean minute steak - cook up (takes 4 mins max), cut in slices
-Prepare some salad
-Prepare a nice sauce (corriander and lime is yum!)
-mix all together

Corn fritters. (Mix all the below ingedients in a bowl, and cook like pancakes):
-Flour
-Grated lite cheese
-lite cooking cream
-shallots
-2 cans corn kernals (only if you're lazy - best to use fresh corn)
-Milk

(I'll confirm the quantity of the above ingredients when I get a spare minute)

Apricot Chicken:

-Chicken breast - cook or boil
-Apricots + apricot pieces
-Rice

Add apricot sauce to the chicken when cooked, put over the top of rice

a HEALTHY diet is a diet that is suited to your body and the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.

all diets are recommended to use excersize which burns off excess calories which can be stored as fat cells if not burned.. so excersize is the way to go.

Starving your body by eating Low or no calorie foods is bad for your body and will affect physical performance as well as mental performance.

Home cooked meals are the best way to go, because you can cater to your own taste and keep the calories down.

I suggest my own recipe which is actually damn good.. i eat it at least twice a week.

-1lb of cut up boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into one inch squares
-one bag of frozen veggies or fresh.. around 16 ounces.
-one TBSP of peanut oil OR two tbsp of regular cooking oil.
-LOW sodium soy sauce

1) put peanut oil in wok.. heating for just a few seconds.
2) set heat to med-high
3) toss in chicken, cook untill no longer pink in center.. stirring frequently
4) once chicken is cooked, put in frozen veggies.. reduce heat to medium
5) when veggies thaw + hot.. put in 2 ounces of soy sauce
6) reduce heat to low, let simmer for 1-2 minutes stirring frequently

let sit on NO heat for 5 minutes, and eat up...

its really really delicious and provides 2 big meals with a NON insane amount of calories and some nutrients from veggies.. provides alot of energy and doesnt feel like you ate crappy food...

one hour after eating.. take a walk or short jog =)

worked for me. hope you like it.

^^Sounds yum! If you crave a sweeter flavour, try replacing the soy sauce with kecap manis (sweet soy)

Gaboon - Lime sauce is easy - just some fresh limes, juice them, add some fresh corriander, and add whatever else you like! (I like kecap manis (as above), some freshly ground peppercorns, a tiny bit of fresh ginger and garlic, and some hoisin sauce)

Another favourite of mine is a homemad pie:

-Couple chicken breasts, cook through
-1 can condensed soup - any flavour you like (I prefer cream of chicken or cream of chicken and mushroom)
-Fresh veggies (or canned if you are lazy) - we usually do mushrooms

Put cooked chicken in a bowl with the can of soup and the veggies, Line a pie dish with shortcrust pastry, pour chicken mixture in, and put some puff pastry on top. Put in the oven for 15-30 mins, and you're ready to roll! :)

With the above pie, we usually make some home made chips (french fries) by cutting up some potatoes, spraying with some aerosol canola oil, shake some mixed herbs over the top, and bake for 30-40 mins.

(I do realise that the above takes a little longer, however if you are cooking for 1, you can get 4 meals out of it) :)

Dont just NOT write off carbs, you NEED carbs. Esp the kinds found in bread and fruits, IE low in sugar and high in fiber. They are essential to butning fat and basically running. Think of Carbs as your gas. Fill up on them in the morning, eat fewer later on. What you want to avoid are processed carbs (white bread, some cereals, any sugary drinks) and cut as much sugar out of your diet as possible! If you want to point a finger at something that makes you fat, Its not carbs, not fat, not calories, But sugar. Sugar is your mortal enemy. As for quick snacks, i love baby carrots and brocolli with either hot sauce or very little ranch dressing or blue cheese. And just a little tip...a PB & J with no sugar added jelly is perfect to have before you hit the gym. Simple sugars for energy, carbs and protein to keep you going, and a few essential fatty acids and vitamins. Also, if you drink protein shake, have a glass of anything you choose, 30-40 grams of carbs(no high fructose corn syrup) and 10-15g of protein powder. Most important thing you can do. This keeps your muscles from going catabolic, which is bad. Also eat as much fresh fruit and vegetables as you can. only cook what you have to to avoid bacteria. cooking kills essential enzymes and amino acids. Let me know if that helps lol sorry for the long post

On a 2nd note, buy a book on sports nutrition, or read websites on it. Not standard diets. The sports books cut right through the fad crap and hit you with the facts and science of it. Just dont follow some of their 5000 calorie diets because some of them assume you are training 5 hours a day as a pro athlete. But yeah your most important things to pay attention to food wise is post workout, pre workout, then breakfast. then eat light the rest of the day. if you follow this the weight will drop quick, and youll feel good too! not shitty and hungry all the time.

I was like 6'5" 260in high school.

I'm 19 now, and 6'7" and 180.

I dont know where its gone.

But ive been a pescitarian for about a year now. And it helps.

I'm going to eat some hardboiled eggs tomorrow morning.

Also, don't smoke a lot of pot. I just downed a lot of train mix, and a raspberry toaster storodel.
