Exhaust manifold torque specs

I have just got done putting a helicoil in my head so I could put the manifold back on and get it running again. But I don't know what to torque the studs to, and I can't seem to find it in the repair manual.

Spec's, we don't need no stinking spec's! I just tightened mine up by feel, and all is good. And this has worked on multiple engines.:sarcasm:

While this may have worked for you and taking into account how many annealed 7M heads there are this "advice" is bogus and shouldn't be taken seriously. :nono:

Though I'm telling the truth about doing this, I would think you could tell by the post, that I was just playing, and would not seriously try to get someone else to do it this way.

A lot of the kids here WOULD take it at face value then be in here pissing and moaning that their studs have pulled out of the head using your method.... :nono:

The TECH section needs to have accurate information as not everyone can "feel" 30 ft/lbs on a m10x1.25 stud before it pulls the threads.

Calm down now the old man is gonna get cranky:biglaugh::biglaugh: J/K Specs are the way to go. Except for the ARP head studs. I always torque mine down to 25, 45, 65, 75, then 95lbs. IDK thats just the way it happened. So I stuck with it.

Not too sure how ARP head studs got into this discussion, but I know for a fact you do not want to over torque them. That is exactly what you did...suggest you either keep it to yourself or post the correct torque. That would be the one on the install sheet that comes with the studs.

Like IJ said, this is the Tech section...post the correct info or don't post.
