Everyone else started it, now I'm gonna finish it...

I picked this beautiful '87 MKIII from Slow66, who bought it off a friend who bought it from some dude in New York. Along the way, more and more stuff was added to it. Now its up to me to finish it and see what she'll do.

Currently, I'm working on stripping the car of all non essential mechanical and electrical. The motor is out, the tranny is with Sean Cassidy @ Best Transmission. I'll be going with a fully built TH350 w/ trans break. The motor is recently rebuilt and cleaned up, controlled by an AEM EMS.

My overall goal is a minimalist appearance with a competitive drag/street build. Here's pics of what I've got so far:

When I got it:

Interior electrical and dash being ripped apart:

Thats all for now, I'll keep this updated as I go along.

Continued some more work while the weather has been nice.

Picked up the transmission from Sean @ Best Transmissions. Really cool guy, really great service. I just need to finish a few more things before I drop the drivetrain back in.

Here are the valve covers after a fresh coat of Ford racing blue:

Here is my new brake system with out the ABS (Have to repaint the brake booster):
Also, disregard the tank, I'm going to lower it with a bracket.

Put the IM back on and started hacking apart the main engine harness. My plan is to run all the wiring needed to start and run the engine to a set of water proof connectors that end at the firewall directly behind the engine. Then the harness will continue to the AEM and fuse block under the dash. This way, I can easily pull the motor later without having to disconnect all the sensors.

The only issue I had with the IM was when we were putting the engine back in. I had to take the upper plenum off because it was hitting the brake booster while it was angled in. Other than that, it fits great.

The TB is a Mustang 5.0 75mm.
