Will a code 52 cause a change to timing and give a rich condition? (I did search for code 52 and found no definitive answer.)

Yes. It retards timing.

52 is for knock sensors.

There is a map in the ecu for max ignition retard for a knock event versus load and rpm. Normally, the ecu works its way methodically to the max when knock occurs. With a code 52, the max values in the map are used all the time, which can be up to 15 degrees of retard from the base timing map.

Found out that loose,malfunction spark plugs wires can send a wrong 52 code.
And loose connector in tps...the x mechanic forgot to lock the pin.
Can used camry 1988 clip pin as a donor to tps connector.
Since then no check injins.
