i bought a 7m a while back from someone who gave up on their build. All the machine work has been done but I have some Q's. First, it is unassembled, bored .020 over for probe pistons, has shot-peened and cryo-treated stock rods, a 6m crank and all ARP hardware. He said he got everything zero balanced also. I just don't know (and doubt) if they used a torque plate or even had the tensioner installed when they bored the cylinders. The pistons and rods are also not labeled for which cylinder it goes to. I know I always did that when I worked at a machine shop years ago. I'm wondering if I should take it to another machine shop or would I be wasting my time?

I would take the block and all related parts to a qualified engine machinist to check everything. You may still have enough room on the bores to do a slight hone with a torque plate to match each individual piston. I usually would do .0035 to .0038 on probe pistons.
