Personally I wouldn't trust an electric as the sole pump, point in case mine had popped a fuse but as it's winter here the car was running stone cold anyway so I didn't notice (doh)

If it were my only pump I'd have been in deep shit.

Just had to swap a hotter TStat in today.

I am going to use a light in my dash
to guard agains just that scenario......

If the pump looses power, so will the LED in my dash.

Another alternative is a relay, with NC contacts,
that if it looses voltage, it will send a signal to a warning light,
or for us who have a hard time actually noticing such things,
a car horn under the dash :))
