I believe in punishment that fits the crime, personally. The death penalty for someone insane enough to do this isn't fitting, IMO. Mind you, planning and following through with permanently... err... *disfiguring* your soon to be ex-husband, in cold blood, doesn't really fit into my world view either, whatever his sins against her.
