Is there a way I can fit 6" speakers in my 89 door panels without swapping the door panels out for 91+ door panels. Has anyone ever done this? I know everything will have to be customized but want to know if its been done. Thanks.

My 6.5" Infinity Kappa 63.7i speakers fit in the front doors, with 6.5" speaker pods, and no modifications to the 1990 door without any issue at all.

Check the group buy section on here, KevinM is having the 91-92 door pods replicated, so you'll be able to put 6.5" speakers in 86.5-90 cars. :)

The replica pods are a slightly different shape than the 86.5-90 door pods. More speaker space, less plastic, from what it looks like to me. :)

I think some MDF and some trimming of the metal on the door panel and a 6.5 could fit. What kind of mounting depth do our doors have to work with in either years? ..hmm or just keep the 4" and fine a place for an 8" to do a 3 way component

We (brother and I) put 6.5's in my doors. Had to make our own brackets, and cut some insulation...wasn't that much of a pain...just that the speakers sit a little deep. We used Polk components.
