I keep looking and comparing and looking some more but the more i do the less i can see a reason why my 2jz flywheel wont work for a 2jzge swap...can any one tell me how the 1jz flywheel is diffrent from the 7m and 2jz because they look the same from my comparisons and I'd hate to blow money on something i have 3 of sitting in my house

edit i know the 7m flywheel has 6bolts and the jz's have 8 but is there any other diffrence

edit2 sorry mods I put this in the wrong thread it belongs in the mk3 section

width? pressure plate bolt locations? It depends on which tranny your going with

if youre using a w58, you can use an sc300/NA mk4 5 speed tranny flywheel( 2jzge)
for an r154 you need a 1jz flywheel and a 7mgte clutch

If you want to use the R154 - YES you NEED a 1JZ Flywheel.

as is what everyone keeps saying but when i but them side by side they look to be exactly the same...maybe its not a 2jzge flywheel i did get it from a guy who was into drifting so maybe it already is a 1jz flywheel but it looks the same minus the 8bolt holes

i think having 6 bolt holes instead of 8 is quite a bit of a difference

lol i know that but that wasnt the issue starting this thread made me realized that i really dont know where the flywheel came from (2jz or 1jz) and didnt think thats would be why they look the same Hence why i couldnt see why my "2jz" or so i thought flywheel wouldnt work

You dont need the 2jz flywheel. The 2jzge flywheel will work fine you just need to have a machinist drill and tap 6 bolt holes for the r154 pressure plate (if your using r154)

Im using a stock rusty 2jzge flywheel on 2jz swap, I just had my buddy drill and tap it for acase of beer.

I'm thinking this wouldnt be the best idea when my goals are 500whp

I don't see why it wouldn't hold 500. And from the looks of things in EviltoM's sig... he's probably running at least 500whp.

This works... no problem. As long as there is room between all the holes, it will be fine. unless you care about the aesthetics...

You also need to have the dowel pin holes put into it, which is more complicated than drilling & tapping the retaining bolts, as they center the pressure plate.

this thread is old but to finalize i did in fact drill and tap the flywheel I was confused at first. it should hold just fine since the flywheel is steel. Guess this is another option for people who have the 2jzge flywheel around.
