Then you have a cherry red turbine pumping out stupid hot temps causing more problems than the extra boost is worth...

This is a good idea. Your not gonna need the cams/cam gears to hit 500hp but otherwise you got the right idea. Trying to out run your wallet is a good way to blow things up.

EDIT: I'm thinking 7M...maybe you do need cams for the 1JZ, I cant answer that.

If you want any benefit from a 57 trim upgrade you gonna have to upgrade you fuel system, otherwise fuel cut will be your best friend. And dont go and buy a FCD trying to work around the fuel cut, you'll just blow something up. Look into lex/550s with safc or MAFT Pro if you want to break into the 300s safely. Spend some time in the Articles section, theres a thread about steps to take when modding.

As for 500 hp, get you car running right for now, and drive it. Some things you will learn easier with lower hp. Learn the car as you make it more reliable and then build it. You will learn more about the car mechanically as well as driving it, will be less likely to blow things up, and will save $$ in the long run.

Now thats a good idea I think Im trying to go to fast. Thanks for the advice. The best I got so far. Im jus going to do more reasearch and take my time and do it right im just going to work on my fuel system. I was thinking 550s with walbro 255 with a safc for now with the ct2657.

I wouldn't waste the money on the ct setup if its not going to reach your goals. As I said T4 60-1 will make 500+whp on high boost, and they're not much money.

This is true, you're gonna need a new exhaust manifold either way, just dont give in to the urge to crank the boost without the supporting mods and tune.

Nah, breaking 400 on an upgraded CT isn't terribly hard, it's just going farther

Also, on a 1J, cams are recommended.

Yeah but he seems like he has his heart set on 500whp and for the money hes gonna spend on the upgrade and the manifold, hes not far from a 60-1.

I suppose he could get a T4 manifold, and get a ct26 to t4 adapter and use it backwards...run the CT for now, then upgrade when he reaches the limits of it. That way he would only have to buy one manifold.

Well, the CT manifold just merges the two stock manifolds for the 1J, shouldn't be that expensive and you could resell it after.

I second this. All that's done to my 1j is the BC 264 cams, a bit of head porting, and a 3" test pipe/catback. I'm running about 8psi and it outruns my 01 SS Camaro 6 speed with relative ease. I'd say I'm easily in the 300whp range here, but have no experience to *definitely* say that it's all the cams' doing, but I recommend them all the same. Good power for the money.

NOW... has anybody tried sticking 2 ct26's on a 1j? We have a few of them laying around the shop, I'm only worried about the space under the hood...

This is horrible advice, do it once and do it right how you want it. Settling for something that isn't want you want is a waste of time, effort, and money.

wtf is going on here?? I have a 57Trim from DM and the manifold as well. Tuned by sarkis at dynoextreme made 331WHP on 12-13PSI right before cut. The CT2657 will max out around 370-380whp on pump gas and stock internals. I ran purple top 550s, 255 walbro pump, afc neo. You can pump more power out with a standalone ECU with timing and ignition control, but 500 is gtfo.

Brand new rebuilt CT2657 with ceramic coated exhaust housing\polished intake housing.

Edit: btw the CT2657 kit has treated me quite well, the lag is not that noticeable and VERY similar to the stock twins. With cams and a standalone ECU this setup could possible break the 400WHP mark.

Those are nice numbers for the ct2657 in going to try this setup for a while but with some cams I can settle with 350whp for right now thats not bad but im still doing homework on what I wanna do. I going to see what I can get outta the twins first.

I have seen and driven 390 RWHP and 400+ ft lbs of torque out of stock twins with 440 cc injectors and 272 cams. This car is tracked every weekend here in Cali for the last two years, so stock twins can make the power with reliability at 16 PSI.
