D/l and beat the demo yesterday.

Specs:
2gb Corsair XMS DDR2 800Mhz ram
Pentium Dual Core e2160 (1.8Ghz @ 3.0Ghz)
Sapphire Radeon X1900GT stock clocks

Runs great for me. Looks good, every graphic setting on Medium, DX9. Reminds me a LOT of FarCry meets original Halo!

Played at medium detail, post processing on low, 1440x900 it ran average about 25fps. So i just bought another 4gb of ram and an 8800GT from newegg.

This game is full of win. According to amazon.co.uk, my copy should be here tomorrow - yay! :)

I played that game also on medium. The only thing I dislike about that game, is that it takes way too many bullets to kill a guy. And I think the aim sights arn't dead on.

You need to learn how to aim, then ;)

I killed probably 60% of the baddies using the pistol only. You shoot them in the face, and they die.

Once I had the shotgun, though, it was Maximum Speed + Shotgun to the chest ftw, with some Cloaking thrown in, if the shit got too heavy (or my energy started to run out)

Eh - just leave it on armour mode, set the scar to single shot and take them out with headshots (far more accurate on single shot) until you reach the command bunker and get the intel. Then just switch to the AK.

Either that - or just edit the .ini files and play around ;)

I had to play on Low settings, and I still enjoyed playing the game. I wish I could afford to put more money into my computer, but over the years of investing money into a computer, ive learned to put more money into vehicles rather than the computer. A car isn't the greatest investment, but I hate how much computers lose value. But here and there I still invest, and now im just waiting for bigger improvements.

Kai: what are you going to do with your ATi card?

Thats just at 1440x900, Medium details on everything, post processing on low, no AA or AF.

Current Spec is:

Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 3Ghz (333Mhz FSB x 9), Zalman CNPS9700LED
Asus P5B-E, 1601 BIOS
2gb OCZ Dual Channel PC5400 Gold GX (4-4-4-12 @ 2.0v)
Asus Radeon EAX1950 Pro (256mb - 640Mhz Core, 1550Mhz Memory)
1x200gb Hitachi Deskstar T7K200 SATA II
3x250gb Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 SATA II's
Samsung SH-183A DVD±RW Drive

Motherboard was voltmodded to counteract the horrendous vDroop - amazing what you can do with an HB pencil :p

Got a GeForce 8800GT on the way and a 4gb set of G.Skill PC6400's. Next step up is a new motherboard and cpu. Probably an Intel X38 and a 2.4Ghz Quad (Q6600).

You went for the 8800GT? I'm waiting for the 256mb version, so I can grab one hopefully under $200.

Otherwise, I'll snag an HD3870 around then ;)

Yep - the 8800GT was only $289. Yes, thats $40 over MSRP but it was all that was available. They're £185 at minimum here ($370), so i saved myself enough cash and got the 4gb memory kit as well :D

Word of warning - the HD3870 is no different than the 2900XT. Still has the same problems with AA, still slower than the 8800GT in almost every test (and by no small amount) - the only difference is the inclusion of the UVD engine and the 55nm GPU shrink. That and the fact that the ring bus has gone from 1024-bit and the external memory has gone from 512-bit to 256-bit.
