So, i know theres at least one other Crysis thread, but its over 3 months old by this point, and mostly concerned the Demo....

How many of you guys are still playing?

Any serious hardware geeks pimped out their rigs just for this, like me? :D

Oh, i decided that for the prettiness value, i'd upload some pictures for all of you to gawp at over here:

http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/IRC/images/

However, in the interests of satisfying those of you with attention deficit disorder, or the 'ooh, shiny!' complex - here are four screenshots of Crysis running on my setup:-

Click the images above for a high res view

My Setup is as follows:

Core2Duo E4300 (1.8Ghz) running at 355Mhz x 9 - 3200Mhz
4gb G.Skill DDR2-800 running at 4-4-4-10 timings, 1:1 ratio (710Mhz)
Asus P5B-E - 1704 BIOS
GeForce 8800GT 512mb, Custom BIOS (Fan speed and memory clock increases), running at 705Mhz Core / 1728Mhz Shader / 2000Mhz Memory
3 x 250gb Hitachi Deskstar T7K250's (7200rpm, 8mb Cache, SATAII)
1 x 200gb Hitachi Deskstar T7K250
Samsung SH-S183A SATA DVD±RW Drive
Generic 19" Widescreen TFT, 6ms, 700:1 Contrast, 350cd/m2 Brightness, 1440x900 native resolution, DVI/HDCP input

All connected to a Logitech UltraX Media Desktop....

Oh and in case you were wondering what config i'm using...its a custom one again, based off the Luxus Silentium, but tweaked for better performance on the 8800GT:

Copy all that into notepad, save as 'autoexec.cfg' and stuff it in the Crysis main folder (NOT the Bin32/Bin64 dir's).

Also, use that with the Crysis 1.2 Patch and the new nvidia 174.53 beta drivers. I'm seeing anywhere from 20 to 60fps, average of about 27/28fps.

Now fella's, its YOUR turn! :D

I don't have a rig that'd be able to fully run Crysis, but I played it on my buddy's rig. He put together a Quad-core 6600 Intel, 4 or 8 Gigs of Ram, GT8800 Nvidia card, yadda yadda. Gotta tell ya, if I had a rig worthy of that game...I'd be playing it all the time! Oh, and uh...you play with the shark yet? *evil grin* heheh...

Ever since my AMD X2 Died (939 Socket) I have been using my 7 year old p4 machine with 2 GB memory. I planned to get Crysis with my old setup and atleast try it but since that machine took a shit I have been out of the game world...

I am in the process of beating Halo on PC (Halo 1 that is) :D

Nothing like a Radeon 9600 with a p4 2.8 GHz and 2 GB of PC3200 memory :-D...

Everything is stock clocks/voltages for right now, I just put it all together not too long ago (feb) and letting everything break in.

I think when I am done playing with the Supra for the day I will fire up some Crysis again.

hmmm I thinks it's time to benchmark my system...

XFX 8800GTS 512 Alpha Dog (650MHz core, 972MHz memory)
XFX 680i MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 333 X 9
Thermalright ULTRA-120 Extreme CPU cooler
4GB SLi Ram
Samsung 22" 226BW
3 x 12cm fans
OCZ 650W PS
Win XP

COD4 is butter on full - but Crysis can't run full :(

Use my config then. It was buttery smooth on my 8800GT...and you have a better CPU than me, and a GTS-512, so 16 more SP's :D

If running in Vista - use DX9 mode, DX10 is stuttery and slow.

And with 4gb of memory, are you not using XP x64?

How have you found the GSkill Kai? I'm planning on picking up another gig and I've heard good things about them

Its good stuff. I got the 2x2gb (4gb) PC6400 kit (the PQ) and its done fairly well so far. Dont have to crank the voltage too high to get it stable at lower timings, although i've not tried it in spec yet - my motherboard cant handle 1600Mhz FSB.

I'm not patched up and I'm not sure if I'm doing this right.

I copied autoexec.cfg into Crysis\ and ran Crysis\Bin32\Benchmark_GPU.exe with old drivers and v1.1 and got 22-23 FPS average. I'll try again tomorrow patched up.

No, only 32bit XP - I got a steal on 4x1GB DIMMs

Oy. Runs faster on x64 and that way you can actually USE the 4gb :p

And yes, you put the config in the right directory. However, the benchmark isn;t really much good i think - actual playing of the game gives you a better result.

You MUST have the 1.2 patch installed as well. Not for the config to work, but for the speed difference to be readily apparrent.
