I have '91 with all stock audio (except for speakers) which have been upgraded.

problem: when cd player is playing - volume is low and you only hear the passengers side speakers - but when you play the radio volume is fine and all speakers sound loud and clear?

could it be the stock amp or the head unit?

thanks

Head unit. If it were the amp, it wouldn't matter what the source is. It could be as simple as the laser lens being dirty, but I think it's more likely that the DAC has gone.

Aftermarket will probably be cheaper, and if you're careful with what you get, I'm sure one with green buttons can match the factory interior quite well.

There are a lot of nice aftermarket decks that will work with the dash quite well, or you can look for someone who has their factory deck changed out for aftermarket.
