Hey guys i have an automatic 7mgte just rebuilt the head and have new spark plugs, and new spark plug wires. The only things that i have done to my car so far is intake and downpipe, and 110 bypass valve. The car runs fine idles fine accelerates fine but sometimes when i stop it just dies on me and it won't start back up until a while later if at all, and sometimes when i haven't driven the car in a while it won't start either, it just cranks. I feel like my car has a mind of its own and likes to piss me off

When im cranking the car sometimes i hear a ping too, but when i pull the EFI fuse it stops when im cranking the car. I checked the fuel line and fuel was coming out when i cranked it so its not the fuel pump, so i was thinking its some lose wiring or the coil pack or ignition any suggestions??? :1zhelp:

Oh yeah when i put the timing belt back on everything was set to TDC but i haven't used a timing light yet to set the timing

Thanks

It's worth it to check for codes. While the MIL could not be illuminated, you could still have stored codes. You Ninja editor.

This will help you and there are lots of threads on Code 51 and every other code.

Look at the bottom of this page at all the threads with the same title.........:3d_frown:

the TPS is connected and looks clean, so it might be a bad TPS? but would a bad TPS prevent the car from running or would it just cause it to run kind of retarded?

is it adjusted per tsrm?

Yeah it should be, i never touched it when i rebuilt the head. I think i know why it was throwing a 51 though, when i was checking the codes check engine light was just flashing quickly like like normal but then i stepped on the accelerator it threw a code 51, but as soon as i let go of the accelerator it went back to flashing quickly haha so i think thats my bad, makes sense that it recieves no idle signal when you are accelerating.

So other then that no error codes

Yeah i have checked, some say to check timing but my car seems to idle fine and accelerate fine, but just dies randomly when i come to a stop and won't start again for a while or won't start at all from the beginning after parking. Other then that the other threads seem to have different symptoms

Have you checked your fuel pump relay. Mine was doing this a while back, but not to the extent yours is. Mine did it twice and I noticed the fuel pumps weren't coming on. I have the dual walbro's and you can hear them when you turn the key on. Check your fuel pump relay and I'll bet it's bad. Good luck.

I would check the CPS wiring and connector...next time it does this, wiggle the CPS wires where they lead into the CPS. Someone cranking at the same time makes it easier.

BTW - A code 51 will NEVER cause a no start or cause the engine to die.
