ok well i for the the life of me can't figure out why i can not get a good clean timing reading its all over the place and i set it to 10 with box pined it revs up and down then stalls i set it to 12 and it fluctuates between 12 and 16 or so. and Ive tried changing coils,ecu,three different cps's. im wondering if its possible to just run a 7mge distributor on my 7mgte ecu and just run an old school msd oil filled coil? so if any one has any info it would greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

If your timing is jumping all over, you are not in diagnostic mode. It is possible the bolt on the CPS is loose, but it usually doesn't bounce around when it is. The 7MGE provides the correct pick up signals, they are the same. But I am not seeing it, meaning your intention. I can't see all that work because the timing is jumping. Or the light is not being used right.
it was defiantly in diagnostic mode because the cel was flashing as it should and i used my gun just like i have always have, hooked to the battery and the pick up on plug wire 1(or 6) gun set to 0
