BOV placement question

I was looking around at pictures of peoples engine bay and thought of a question. I saw people with the BOV near the stock location and i also saw many pics of people with the BOV near the AFM. Now does either of the locations have a benefit over the other?

Not being a turbo guy, I believe the closer to the TB the better the response is. Someone here said that. Dont take my word. Im a slow guy.

Okay, I am in the process of rebuilding my tired old 7M, and one of the things I was looking into was replacing the BOV. By TB I am assuming that you are referring to the Throttle Body right? Why does it need to be as close to the throttle body?

Sorry for the clarification, but I am new to the whole car thing, especially ones with forced induction

i'd imagine so that when you let off the throttle and the body closes you get the fastest response from the bov with the least distance that released air has to travel to get out the bov...

The answer:

bingo. stop the pressure wave where it starts....and allow the rest of the intake tract/IC to remain pressurized...
