No one...it's a custom piece done by a machine shop that has the equipment to re-balance the crank.

Moldex Crank Shaft Inc.....Last time I check, if your having a custom billet crankshaft made, the first one will run you in the range of 4.5-5K

Simple knife edged stock crank is about the best deal going if you want to do this.

Mine was knife edged by Crankshaftspecialists.com Out of Nashville, TN. (They also hard chromed the main and rod jourals, and it's a stroker, so the rod journals are sized for a 327 Chevy at 2" v/s the stock Toyota stuff, which is larger than that. The smaller journals of course are lighter.. and they allow for a smaller rod shoulder, so there is less material to cut from the block to clear the rods.)

Are you sure it was 12lbs?
(my guys stopped at just under 6 as any further would destroy the inherent balance)

I normally had my crankshafts done by an old guy who had a bunch of lathes and what not. He decided he was a little too old for the job, so I had to visit a speed shop in town. The machinist told me he could not cut the crank down that far, but he had also balanced cranks for me in the past and he had known that I had bunches of weight taken off and that my cars run fine. So he reluctantly took roughly 12lbs off and balanced it. The engine turns up like a motorcycle while in nuetral, and suprisingly enough I am still fully boosted (20psi) at 3000rpm. I have a sheet somewhere around here where we weighed the crank before and after the knifedging. I will see if I can find it.

Do you have a break-down on the cost ?
(price for the knife-edge job, and price of what the hard chrome cost)

^^^ Me too ;)

IJ - I'm having Rich do my crank and the consensus is the same as you posted...right around the 6# range is about all you want to do without disrupting the natural balance.

I haven't been able to find "Crankshaftspecialists" anywhere online. Do you have a phone #, so I could get in touch with these people about my 7m crank. How much did it cost you for the "Knife edging" ?
