I was thinking of getting my block dipped before installing the guts. But, as I make phone calls to get a quote, etc..., this place called WaterHouse Motors said they don't do dipping, but they will oven bake and blast the block so it'll come out looking like new.

Anybody got theirs baked? Any benefits, etc...?
What's the diff?

I'm having second thoughts, and I might have it baked....

....or just try my best to clean it up and paint the sucker! :icon_evil :naughty:

I used to work in a machine shop in college. I was the guy in charge of dipping, shotblasting, and baking. I would bake it if its not to crazy in price. The Oven melts everything off!!! I cant remember how hot it got but I do remember If you opened the door the heads ect would glow red. After that the shot Blaster will take the block to cast Iorn. If you want a good clean painting surface its the only way to go. The jet tank also does a good job but not like baking.

Good luck

probaly baked at 1500 degrees or so..

altho i dont belive our heads will "glow" red, i would belive cast heads will.

just for the fact aluminum doesn't change color while heated/welded.
