Hey, i just recently bought an 87 hard top for a stip/street project. The car came as a rolling chassis with no engine/tranny/suspension/brakes. Its a perfect shell to put a 2jz and auto trans in.

As of right now, i have it pretty much stripped and we are starting to install the roll cage. We are hoping when its all said and done, to make a high 8 second pass with the car.

Starting on the cage this weekend. Got the plates for the main hoop mounted in, and you can see the layout on the shop floor for the main hoop.

Welcome! That Supra looks real familiar. HamsMKIII had one that looked just like that. You know what motor the car was running before you bought it?

Its a crime what this car has been through :(

That is definitely Chris' old car. How much did you get the shell for?

That is my old car. Sadly, I requested that I have first right to purchase the car back from the gentleman if he were to ever sell it. What makes me more sad is to see it in the condition it is in. I spent countless man hours and well over $35,000 to make the car what it was when I sold it; only to see it become this.

Truthfully I wish the new owner the best of luck in his/her new endeavor, but I feel shame for selling to someone who has utterly destroyed an amazing car that could never be replaced.

I'm not sure if I am more sad or angry at this point.

The car at it's pinnacle:

Now it's just a shell of something that once was... It is a real pitty to see what it has become.

Well, all i can say is i saved this car from a fait worse then what i plan to do with it. The car has been through 3 owners since you had it. The guy who you originally sold it to started to part it out, one of his friends purchased the shell, and was planning to put a 302 in it :(.

It took me a month to convience the guy to sell me the shell. I finally dug the car out of his garage, cluttered with shit all over it, and brought it back to my shop.

The car is going to remain as clean as possible. I am keeping the interior in place, and will build the cage around it. Every panal i can get back in will go back into the car, other then the rear seats and hatch panals.

The car looks like its in rough shape right now, but it really is just as clean as ever. Just needs alittle TLC to get it back to where it was. I have a 2jzge engine, with a gt42r that will be going back into the car. There will be a powerglide auto put in place of the original 5 speed.

I have a chance to buy back alot of the old parts from the car, so as i can afford i plan to pick up alot of the parts it had when you owned it. I am going down tonight to pick up the koyo rad and fans, and possibly the Silk Road suspension.

Tears just ran down my cheek, this car was the inspiration on my Two-Tone build, I have every picture of this car that was ever posted and I want to make my car as clean and as beautiful as this. Thank you for saving this, and I hope the guy you bought it from lucks out and feels the same pain we all do with one of his cars.

It had a stock 2JZ in it when I origionally sold it. Suppose to have been a drift car. That 800 hp engine was too much for it. Actually destroyed a motor mount.

I think the car just needs a good cleaning, and an engine put back in it and it will be good as new :)

Please do me a favor and keep me up to date on the car. I will continue to watch your progress with great anticipation.

This is the reason I am not selling my Mustang. Atleast you know the car is in better hands now and wants to take care of it.

I made some good progress tonight on the car. My plans for the cage is to make it certifiable to 8.50's but keeping it as subtle as possible. When the doors are closed i want the cage to be almost invisible with the exception of the main hoop.

Anyways, we got the main hoop bent up tonight and tacked into place. I also went down and picked up a Koyo rad, flex-a-lite fans, and the Greddy gauges that were originally installed in the gauge cluster.

Here is a few pics of the main hoop installed, and the new rad:
