Okay, i'm back again. So the previous rebuild had some complications.
basically after i rebuilt the head, the back two intake cam journals were fried, metal shavings everywhere.
heres the previous thread with many details.

well first thing to be done.........tear apart the donor motor. A 7MGE. I will rob the head from it as well as the crank.
It was the original motor out of my car, its been sitting for about a year and a half, so its a little rusty.... also, i completely detest the stock headbolts being an allen wrench.

heres the progress so far

i know hey? i didn't wanna tear it apart at first. But ALL the extra parts that i pull off and all the extra things i got layin around are goin up for grabs in the next couple weeks. That includes the GE block, it still has the cross hatch marks in all the cylinders. I need money for a new clutch and more parts to make it beastly. I figure it'll roughly be around $600 for the parts without the clutch. Thats new piston rings, seals, bearings, and a couple other things

So yes, the crank pulley bolt was a bitch. and after that, the pulley didn't want to come off. but i got it in the end.

busted 3 ratchets, and a 1/2 to 3/4 adaptor.

drained the block

okay, after all this, i have to remove the motor from my car, and do the same thing.

i called the machine shop and
block just resurfacing 30 to 45
don't know about the cleaning
light honeing 30
heavy honeing 50
the head resurfaced and leak tested 125
crank polishing 45
crank spinning 95
flywheel resurfacing 30

These prices are give or take a slight bit, i can't really remember them properly......

this is where im at

^Ha no doubt. I will prob be going with a 2.0mm MHG or slightly bigger, because the block surface was resurfaced for the original rebuild, plus the .3mm or .4mm that i sanded off when i rebuilt it the first time.

the Head Shop does great work, but i won't take the parts there till i have everything ready to go. i need money too, might wait till The tax returns..........

how much horsepower will the stock flywheel hold?
and clutch?

also Are stock rod bolts able to handle higher horsepower?

Sup guys. Sorry i haven't been around lately. Been kinda busy and whatnot. Also been procrastinating on the car too much. so today, i went down and finally opened the hood. And started picking through the mess and got down to the head.

The back two exhaust cam journals were Fried. Period. The camshaft basically melted through the aluminum, digging itself into the head. There was alot of metal shavings for only being driven about 20 miles.
the cam journal sitting on top of the head is all warped and the aluminum has been shredded.

anyways.....

i have recently found access to a cherry picker, and will very soon be pulling the motor and gettin down and buck nasty on the rebuild

If you remove the passenger side windshield wiper(it's just one nut), you can tilt the hood all the way back to the windshield.

i know, its very simple. but there was a slight breeze now and then, so i just tied it up. i don't want it to crack the windshield or slam down on me.

Wow, long time no update guys.

been savin up and finally got a cherry picker, and some new tools.

so it was nice outside today and i decided to show the car some love.

Tommorow im trying to pull the motor. Depends on how many people i have with me.

I hate having it outside in the elements. my turbo looks so crusty on the outside........ Lotsa paintwork comming as well. tidy up the engine bay while its open.

Yeah, really cheap. Are you using a MHG? Might want to check if the head will be surfaced to an acceptable RA.

I broke an adaptor taking off a crank bolt too :( 3 ratchets has to be a record though, buying a breaker bar was a good move.

what is an acceptable RA? i know everyone says "as smooth as possible" but that could be different for different shops. as smooth as possible for some shops could mean using 50grit sandpaper..

i used like 280 grit paper for the final smooth. like as fine as possible. as smooth as you can get it.

since the old crank has damag to the crankshaft pulley keyway and nub, have to use the crank out of the n/a. its the heavier one.
i have to have the rods balanced with the crank.

How much HP can the stock pistons and rods handle?
