This is what I have to work with

Can you tell what kind of gasket this is just by looking at it?
IMG_20140623_161315576_HDR.jpg

I will have to partially build this engine myself,
my questions to you knowledgable folks are:

What kind of lube/grease should I buy for assembly?
Where can I get new belts / pipes for a 7MGTE?

The build begins.
also, my supra.

That block is so pretty! That gasket just looks like a factory replacement composite gasket. Felpro uses a composite which is on my 7mgte right now.

Interesting use of tube socks. The HG looks to be a used composite gasket or even the Fel Pro part that came out of the box it is laying on. Most belts and hoses can be had from any local parts store.

So, the engine has a metal head gasket already with ARP bolts in it.

the timing belt looks to be done as well.
Can I just start throwing parts on one by one?
How do I stop the crankshaft from turning? I want to torque the crank nut correct?

ALSO, can I use my old starter? The wire is all melted looks like it needs replacing for sure

Thanks to everyone who's reading these

Make sure you torque that crank pulley bolt to spec, seen a lot of crankshafts destroyed from that bolt coming loose. Either use a chain on the back of the crank to one of the flywheel bolts/engine block bolts or put the car in 5th gear with the ebrake locked once its all together, assuming you're going manual.
