Thanks for that, I have done the exhaust system and headers. I think I'll keep the AFM

Hey guys.

So I couldn't track down a factory air box so I went ahead with buying the parts needed for a new induction set-up.
Starting from the AFM end - AFM adaptor, AFM, 3" straight silicone coupler, 300mm long 3" straight alloy pipe then a 3" - 70mm 45 degree deducer. Clamps to suit.

All I need now is to get the breather connection tig welded in place on the alloy pipe and buy a new pod filter.
Hope this helps anyone else needing to do this, will post photos if it works

Okay this doesn't work, was running out of daylight so I put it back to factory. As of now I am running stock piping to my AFM with a proper ma70 AFM adaptor and a new k&n pod. Will re visit this tonight.

Went something like this...

80-70mm 45 degree reducer - this is the wrong part so don't buy this. It will fit up better with just a standard 3" 45 degree bend.

300mm 3" alloy straight pipe - this is correct and will work if you have re located your power steering. In my case it all fits up except a new bracket will need to be fabricated.

3" silicone coupler from alloy pipe to AFM - this parts fine

AFM adaptor - this works but really if you want it to be perfect you are going to have to fabricate your own one up. I will be doing this.

K&N pod filter - With the set up above I started the car to see how it would run gave it a little rev after warming up and the induction noise is super noisy, along with a 2 1/2" straight pipe it's a great sounding noise.

So for all this to work my plan is either

~ 3" 45 degree bend, correctly measured up 3" alloy pipe, 3" coupler, AFM, AFM adaptor, K&N filter. or -
~ 3" 90 degree bend, correctly measured up 3" alloy pipe, 3" 45 degree onto AFM, AFM adaptor, pod.

Will either be making a custom bracket for the AFM and or a custom box.

Any photos will be ideal for me to get an idea of other n/a induction set ups. Thanks

Local auto parts store, checked the PCD of the AFM and checked it on the adaptor in store and it works fine. Will make my own one though when I sort out the piping

These are a few pictures of my intake piping. There is a step down coupler at the AFM. The tube is an aluminum 15 deg. bend, 2 3/4" od., I forgot the name of the vendor, try Google, (mandrel bent tube). The last coupler is a 45 deg. I kept the stock air box, as stated above there is no gain. And yes, I have more time and money than brains.

Great thanks, Stock air box is long gone for all I know the very first owner may have taken it out.... I bought the car with it as is and it's dodgy. Will check out your pics now thanks for the reply

Sure would, looks simple and clean looking.

IIRC that reducer off the AFM would be 80mm - 70mm? ( 3 1/8 - 2 3/4)
Then the 15 degree alloy pipe and a 2 3/3 silicone 45?

Does this keep the original position of the AFM? or does your new bracket suit to it's new position

I took some measurements of the couplers, and this is what I did. The bracket keeps the AFM in the stock location.
AFM-reducer, 82.55 mm ID to 76.2 mm ID, (3.25" x 3.0").
Pipe, 15 deg. bend-76.2 mm OD, (3.0"). This piece has a special reducer welded on to the throttle body end to 69.85 mm, (2.75")
45 deg.-69.85 mm ID, (2.75").

Thanks for all your help I'll try this set-up, just want something clean and tidy since I do not have the stock parts, yours is super clean so may have to do it this way.
I'll take a note of all the parts and see if I can sort it out.

I may go AFM - straight silicone coupler - 15deg 3" pipe, 45 reducing elbow but I'll see what the store has, thanks again

Completed this today, from throttle body - 60 degree bend, straight 3" ally pipe with expanded end to get 82mm OD, straight couple to AFM, keeping original AFM position and bracket.

Will get some shots up today

For me, I used his idea somewhat, I realised that it would need to be 60 degrees in total off the throttle body to fit (using craigh310's set up as a guide (45 degree elbow + 15 degree mandrel bent tube = 60 degrees)) and went with a Samco 60 degree elbow which took me in to the path of the standard AFM position. From there I went with a 300mm long 76mm OD pipe which was cut down to the correct length from memory I took two inches off the pipe. Then I had the pipe expanded at one end as the connection on to the AFM is 81mm OD. On the expanded end there is a Samco 82mm OD coupler which ends with the AFM here are some pictures.

Your way looks super clean also I just decided this way would be the way to go for me and thought it only needs to add up to 60 degrees to work so thought of some options, thanks for the feedback and all the help
