I love the part where they brag about their cam lobe regrinds. Then the next scene shows some guy freehand buffing the cam bearing surfaces... Who needs round? We just want shiny!

lol

I'm going the $2,500 new Toyota short block and reman head route this summer. Or maybe my old valves/springs in a new Toyota casting.

For sure I'd go get my longblock from toyota if I had the cash. I actually did, but thought it better to build my forged block instead, but if and when this engine of mine explodes from my shitty assembly, I'm most likely either:
a) getting a new longblock from toyota which will be factory perfect or
b) importing a jza70 like I should have done from the start :p

Ofcourse if you got one from toyota you would either have to re-torque the headbolts to the correct specs so it WONT blow up, or simply replace the hg with a metal one as the surfaces will still be incredible as the engine is brand new.

Toyota does not sell a long block any more. The head is sold in 100 little plastic baggies and you have to assemble it yourself.

Total cost is around $6,500 for a long block equivalent.
