I have an '88 turbo but I've changed the alternator twice now. I'd like to know if there's any way to visually know if I've been given a 70a alternator or the 80a alternator that came in the later cars. I'm asking since some other thread here mentioned the use of a 1991 MR-2 alternator that only required a pulley change without any machining as long as you had the 80a model.
