i have a quick question, i do not want to lead any one on, and am helping a friend build and set up a motor.

the motor will have probe's, eagles, and a fresh 6m crank, power goals are 375-450 to the ground. and we will be using a standerd toe4 57trim ct26,

what i am curious, will the stock fuel system work fine on waste gaste ? 7-11 psi.

or should he go with a rising rate?

i figured the RR would be the best, or 550s. but wanted the best info i can get.

thanks guys.

James.

You should upgrade the fuel system if you want that power goal. And I may be reading wrong, but you will not get to that range on 7- 11 psi.

Im running a 57trim at 10 PSI on "stock fuel" system.

Im running a walbro pump, and stock 440cc injectors with a NA fuel pressure regulator. Im un-tuned and running high comp NA pistons.

Im jsut under fuel cut and have been running for a few months like that now. I couldnt be happier

you should be able to get away with 400ish hp guaranteed the 440cc's are in good working order. for added reassurance i would atleast get an aeromotive afpr. it looks like hes done some nice things with the motor and you wouldnt want anything to happen to it right?

im surprised that your car isnt leaning out up top considering that the NA fpr doesnt raise fp as boost increases

Stock pump will run out of fuel well before 400hp and pushing a 17+ year old pump past its design limit isn't a good idea. $100 for some piece of mind is a good idea in my opinion.

p.s the stock regulator is a rising rate regulator 1:1

85% duty on 440's (in perfect working order @43psig) is about 375 crank hp.

As far as I'm aware walbro fuel pumps and N/A regulators wern't "stock" on the 7M GTE

To put down 375-450, I would say somewhere from 15-18psi. Just a guess though. Anyone else?

Without putting it on a dyno anything is just speculation.

Whats the p.s.i. range for his goals?

I believe 18psi will put you around 420 with the right fuel adjustments, and I definitely invest in the fuel upgrades, like everyone is saying 17 years old parts arnt really going to keep up with high hp numbers.

thanks for your input.

i did forget to mention it will have a walbro, not a chinabro.

In a MKII interesting ..... better have some wide and quality tires! 14psi on the stock turbo in a MKII would probably get you into the 12's in the 1/4 mile with a decent driver. I rode in a MKII with a NA 7m with 2.5 in exhaust and an intake the damn thing was much quicker than my 97 maxima with an exhaust and intake. I wish my MKIII was running before he was hit from behind at a stop light..... I think it would have been interesting to see how it would have turned out if we raced.

When my friends had his car tuned he found that the 17-18+psi is where he will need to be to flow enough to make 400rwhp with the lex afm and 550's He put down 380 something at 15psi on a fresh built motor. However thats also the range where it has been documented that the stock 440's start to lean out. I am getting ready to do the same 57trim, stock 440's, AFPR, and walbro.

Either lower the boost or drop some 550's in. Just think of the duty cycle and the age of the injectors ..... Is it wort the risk?

honestly no it's not worth the risk. exspecialy when dumping this much cash into the motor,

but at the same point, we were curious,

the car will be gettin a maft pro, and i'll be teaching him how to tune it him self, and the car will go on the Rollers @ Rrev after break in.

true but, he will be happy at 400, im sure he'll be happy at 300, i just want the avaibity there, since he asked for this number. and it's possible with the right parts,

so the list is walbro, Aeromotive RR, 550's,maftpro,ct57,fmic,2.5in i/c pipes and 3inch exhaust and a lamda cable.

every one agree?

then it will be done this way. should be a soild track car.

from experience, stock pump, stock fpr, stock afm, stock 440's, the mods in my sig will get you 10psi on a 50degree+ day without hitting fuel cut on a ct26 57trim.
Enjoy!

I had a .75 trim on my car, and I had fuel cut very fast at about 5-6 Psi wide open throttle, I could get to 11 psi if I slipped the throttle, I would get a upgraded fuel system for sure. If you don't you may end up with some huge issues that could have been prevented.

.75 trim you say?

That be a big ass trim for a CT compressor housing, In fact, that probably wouldn't fit it...

But I know what you meant when you typed it ;)
