Your question is going to be hard to answer, but I will tell you a well built 7m will hold 450rwhp for along time with proper maintenance and upkeep. Not too many people on here have the know how to build them properly though. I chose to go with a well built 1.5jz because I'm one of those people that doesn't posess the knowledge that it takes.

How would you put a time frame on something like this?

i have been looking and been around this forum for some time now but i just decided to become a member. i had this place in ct called "the shop" build my car the motor is a jdm "low mileaged" engine that is all stock except a metal head gasket and arp's. the car just made 440whp at 1.2bar. i was just trying to get an idea of how long it will last me. i also know that allot of people make allot more power with there stock 7m's like the guy on this forum that made 700+.

Depending on the quality setup you're throwing that power at, it could be imminent failure. Mine is WAY more reliable at this horsepower than it ever was stock.

I make about 350-390rwhp at 15-17 psi on the street, and am always doing full-throttle acceleration pulls, being a very spirited driver. It's been very reliable so far, owned the car for 2 years.

That sounds like a good setup for sure. I had basically the same setup on my 1jz and made 443rwhp @ 17.5psi for over a year and a half with no problems at all. I took the 1jz out in favor of a 2jz block. The verdict is still out on whether or not I made a wise decission.

I didn't correct your spelling to be a prick. I just wanted to make sure you knew the correct spelling for future posts.

My 89' made about 460-480 on a daily basis at 17psi. I always drove my car hard. My motor had 160k miles on it, all that was done was a MHG and ARP studs.

My setup was near identical to yours. 35r, AEM, Custom Piping, eBay manifold, tial gate and bov, 550s.

@21psi my car made 501, in the heat of florida and after 9 consecutive pulls.

As far as how reliable, I drove the car daily for over a year and a half and it would still be running strong had it not been wrecked.

the biggest thing is the tune. that will determine how long it will last. why did you go with the 720cc injectors? other than that looks like a decent setup, watch for detonation and it should last a while

It's the key, I went with slightly lower compression than stock, a little more lag but it never detonates and I'm 1.5 bar consistently on pump gas

WOW, didnt know about the car. I was reading your post and asked "why is he talking in past tense" then I got to the end. Sorry to hear about your car, that was a nice ride.

To the thread starter, my car should make ~400RWHP. I drove it for about 2 years as a daily with no problems (exceot for traction, hehe). Just make sure you have aftermarket gauges and keep an eye on everything. Maintenance is the key.

A stock internalled 7M with a metal headgasket will be fine at 450rwhp. I ran mine at low 400's for years and high 400's at the track.

The questin isn't the 7M, it's the question of your particular 7M's condition and tune.

As you all speak of 'tuning' let me ask this...

My 7M-GTE had the headgasket replaced-metal, ARPs. I have CT-26 with 57trim, KN, DDP-R, Hard Pipes, High-Flow Cat, Tanabe Cat back.

Do I need a tune?? Or should I?

Are you running lexus afm with 550's? Do you have a wideband hooked up so you can see your afr's?

No. Stock injectors and no wideband. All the mods I have are listed. I'm still trying to understand this whole concept of tuning etc. Thanks.
