I just got a mk4 and the PO said that he never ran synthetic oil because the supras dont like it. I have never heard this before but can understand how since when I put synthetic in my vw it was too thin and made the low oil pressure sensor go off. Just wondering if this is true and if so what would I need to do to run it. thanks.

Seems the previous owner also believes the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy are real too...he must ;)

First read the stickys in this section...then read this:
http://63.240.161.99/motoroil/

All 10 pages...make sure you understand what Dr Haas is getting at. There is no such thing as an oil that is too thin cold.
Not too sure what the oil light in a VW is for, but it's not because oil is too thin.

After reading the above, read these:

Afterwards, the type and weight of oil you should use will be obvious ;)

Dude one local mk4 with a nice big single turbo and other goodies netting him just under 900 whp (845@6500rpm) is using the same oil I use AMSOIL which is a full synthetic oil, no dino juices. He uses a much different weight than i do though, I am a 7MGTE with basic mods so I stick with OEM reccommended 10W30 in it. I can't remember the weight he uses.

What would you recommend for a 2jz... I've already read your 7m oil posts... so curious if you know.
