Just think about if your engine is from a Aristo or a Supra... i think the cluster gauges have different internal resistance, and therefore has a different resistance in the sensor as well.
So, if you are throwing in an 2JZ in a old 7M MK3 supra or something... you realy want a sensor that has the same resistance as the previous engine, as your instrument cluster needs that spesific resistance in the sensor to work.
