search is a mess on here. can someone give me a link to a 264 drop in cam (no shims, upgraded valves ect) that is available now for the 7mgte? much appreciated.

No such thing as even just swapping cams from a different head or getting the head rebuilt will require reshimming.

Valves aren't needed, but the springs should be upgraded to take the stress.

Brian Crower is the only one I can think of for new cams that aren't regrinds...

You will need to replace the shims for sure. Getting springs is debatable. Previous owner ran much bigger than 264s on stock springs, I'm not even sure what springs were available in the 90s. However, the Comp Cam springs are so cheap it's almost a waste not to get them if you are going to do headwork anyways.

with any upgraded cam be sure to degree them in. One problem you will notice with the BC is that the car does not like to idle very well. adjustable cam gears would help you with your headache. At least that's what my experience has been.
