1jzgte - I noticed that I can't pass 115mph. Any reason why? I still have stock 1jz ECU. If someone can lmk how to get rid of it I would appreciate it. I've heard greddy speed cut controllers would fix that. Can someone confirm? I tired looking up this problem using search but I couldn't find anything so I'm starting a thread

yes, speed cut for me was at 120 mph. You can get the greddy speed cut and piggyback it up to the speed wire or cut the speed wire and have a check engine light when you get up to like 60 65 mph. Ive heard of some people cutting the speed sensor wire and toggling on or off with a switch. Instructions for the greddy are in japanese too. I have a pdf I downloaded in english.

jdm ecus have speed limit of 180km/h (yes the refernce in tokyo drift is correct) due to the gentlemans agreement in japan.

a hks speed limit defencer will help on that, and i believe blitz also makes one.

When I cut the pink wire on my car the car wouldn't idle normal anymore, it idled super low, barely running. Reconnecting it fixed the problem. Mines running an automatic Z30 soarer ECU though.

Just get the speed cut eliminator... greddy, hks, blitz, apexi (the RSM has it built in).

You cut the wrong wire then. Need to cut the speed sensor wire.

I don't even have a wire on mine for the speed sensor. No issues. Like already said after about 100 you just get a check engine light until you cycle the key.

Hmm, this thread makes me wonder. Is it something in the wiring harness, or the ECU itself? I know for a fact mine is only limited by it's power to overcome the wind...

I read on another board that the speed sensor wire affects the auto ECU's if cut.

If your auto it would effect it. If your manual it will not. Auto chaser which is basiy the same as the soarer ecu with a manual here and the speed sensor wiring was missing since chaser harness are different. Never ran it and I have zero problems.

I went ahead and bought a greddy speex cut controller from a friend and he told be what 4/5 wires are for and I saw a diagram for the 1jz pin out and I looked at my ecu I'm assuming the pink wire is the speed sensor?

Also outta curiosity whats the fastest anyones gone in a 1jz (stock, bpu, apu, or single?) Kinda annoys me that we have these cool cars/motors and are restricted to 115?

There's a thread floating around the general Mk3 tech section... I've had mine up to ~150. With the windows down. On a stock bottom end, stock turbo, stock wastegate pressure setup. Cams and head porting is all it needed to do that. Let off after a paper started flying around the interior, but it would have done at least 160-170 if I had had the windows up.

Yeah, no shit. I'd love to take my car down to Bonneville (like 3-4 hours away) and run it at Speed Week, just to see what she can do.

125 was the theoretical limit of a 1jz, 26" tall tires, 4.30 gears and a r154 tranny in 4th gear. New setup will have 28" tall tires, should be around 132/3 with a lower rev limit (aristo ecu)

132mph in 3rd? dude I'm scared to do 100 in 4th gear for the fear of damaging something. You can put an aristo ecu on a 1jz? What kinda benefit are there?
