no, a 7mgte tach will work too. it will be a few hundred rpm off iirc though.

I believe so if you are using the R-154

1jz fly is what you need for a 1jz.. there are plenty of them out there.. yes you need to swap over the tach on a 1jz swap if you want to do things right.

when i had my stock 1j ecu i would hit the revlimiter at like 7k on my tach in 1st and 2nd.. so like 300-500 rpm at higher rpm

No they aren't, the r154 clutch and pressure plate won't work with the 2jz flywheel.

^^^ What he said, you need the 1jz flywheel and bell housing to use the R154 on any JZ engine.

or he could use a 2JZ FW with a 2JZ PP, and 7M clutch.
