the redline is at 7k. the rev limiter is at 7250(IIRC), but the engine can do higher... ive seen 8k on occasions with my old tuned ECU, no problems. id be willing to bet it can do more, but i was too much of a bitch to see(nor is it making any power up there on stock twins anyway)

i have a rev limit of 7600 with a blitz ecu. all you need is valvetrain. there are rumors if guy goin well past 11k in japan for drifting and such. the bottom end is suposed to rev to whatever. although i have ruined bearings in 2 other bottom ends because of bad engine balance. ( bad harmonic balancer)

no not till above 8500 from what ive been told. although i would recomend it anyways. there are a lot of 1jz here in the states that are already revving over 8 on a regular basis. i think its a waste of time to do that based on our shitty cam profiles . there is no need to go that high unless you get a better profile and tune for it.

^That was a good read...

Even at the 7000 RPM redline, the 1JZ is at a piston speed of 3284.89ft/min, which is still about a good 200 ft/min under the 3500 ft/min 'good reliability' figure that was given in that thread.

At 8000 RPM the piston speed has risen to 3754.16 ft/min, which is right in the middle of the 'stressful, needs good design' category between 3500 ft/min and 4000 ft/min.

A 7M at 8000 RPM comes out to a whopping 4785.552 ft/min. Very high above the 4000 ft/min 'short life' category. It approaches that 4000 number even at it's own redline of 6500 with a piston speed of 3888.261 ft/min.

With the right turbo and cams that would produce useable power in that upper RPM, I'd feel safe running my 1JZ to 8k regularly.
