Yesterday I drove the car for the first time after the swap.
The tranny shift up fine without problem but when gearing down it won't go in to gear.
I bleeded the line 3 time.

No matter what gear you try to go in it won't go back into gear unless you yank it.

Try rev matching sometime. :)

Sounds like there might be something off with your clutch adjustment though, hopefully someone with some experience there can chime in.

Any grinding?

Just out of curiosity, what other manual cars have you driven?
The R154 is quite a beast to drive. "Smooth" or "easy" are NOT words that go with that gearbox. On the scale of Honda 6-speed to International Harvester low range, The R154 is pretty close to the "difficult" end along with T-56's.

Interesting, I may have to drive one of these Honda 6-speeds if you think a T-56 is a difficult transmission to drive with... I don't think I've had a more accurate transmission in anything I've ever had.

The R154 is a truck transmission. It's not smooth by any means. How's the free play? Make sure it's in spec according to the TSRM.

What gear oil did you use?

I have to correct myself, a MUSTANG T56.
The GM and Viper T56's were different breeds of animals :)

Ahh, I've never driven one of those. Only ever the T56 in the SS Crapmaro I had. Beautiful drivetrain, crappy package.

OP: syncros? my original R154 was sort of like that with 2nd gear, only worse.. perhaps try Redline MT-90 trans fluid if you haven't already.

you wouldn't have had that problem with a nice Toyota/Lexus with a Japanese v8 under the hood...

Could be a syncro issue...

As for the other bit, I meant the whole drivetrain, the engine being part of the beauty. Just everything bolted to said engine (other than the trans) was crap. :p
