I have a 89+ with round mounts, I tried all day yesterday to get the engine bolted down and I can't get anywhere. I get maybe a inch or two to where I need to be and cant get any further . I have the square offset aluminium mounts and I heard the stock 1j brackets will work. What am I doing wrong or do I have the wrong mounts???😕😕😕

Can you post pics of you mounts? Are these factory mounts or aftermarket?

It sounds like you may not be using JZA70 mounts. Was you motor originally front sump? We need pics to help ya out

You need the Round style motor mounts to be able to use the stock 1jz motor mount brackets. The offset ones look like theyre the pre89/square style which are the wrong ones.

Heres a picture of the two that I found on google to show that the stud is offset on square style and not on the round.

You can use the round style 89+ motor mounts from our car. Or you can get the 97-98 MKIV TT motor mounts grind off one little tab and theyll fit as well. The MKIV Motor mounts use Toyota Part Number - 12360-46111 You obviously want to order two if you go the MKIV mount route.

Pic of what the MKIV mounts look like.

Even when using a jack to get the tranny up and engine level its still almost a inch or inch and 1/2 form bracket to mount

Are those 1jz motor mount brackets from a JZA70, or Supra?

This is what my JZA70 motor mount brackets looked like. Looks like you may have the wrong ones.

Most likely its not a jza70 1j because it was a front sump. I jus put a rear sump pan on it Saturday. My engine came in last Monday. Can you give me a link to buy these from???

Id just get a set off of Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPRA-89-92...&fits=Model:Supra&hash=item417bcbfb06&vxp=mtr
These if you have the 89+ subframe with the round motor mounts.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPRA-86-89...&fits=Model:Supra&hash=item3f2f6f6f3e&vxp=mtr
Those if you have the Pre-89 subframe with the square motor mounts.

You want to use whatever motor mounts match what your previous engine that fit properly in the car. Either round or square motor mounts, make sure you get it right as they mount at different angles and wont look/sit right with the wrong ones. haha ask me how i know? :p

Stay away from the CXracing ones for motor mounts as they're kind of weird in that they completely change the mounting style.
