Hi guys, here is my other car it's where it all started with me. My father and I built this up ourselves and learnt a lot along the way... good times and the bad but I think it will be worth it.
I bought the car off my fathers mate around 2009 and it's been a slow process but it is coming along nicely.

The car was stripped to a shell and all rust was repaired I can't explain how much time and work went in to the bare shell, was a big job. From there the inside was rust converted and primed, all seams were seam sealed inside and out, the underside was fully sprayed with stone guard, almost all the panels were sound deadened before the underlay and carpets went in you know the deal, I just wish I had taken more pictures to show all the progress.

A few modifications that I can think of are a full engine rebuilt on the standard 1256cc motor including acid dipped and crack tested, port and polished head, upgraded pistons, lumpy cam, webber 45 carb, headers, full two inch exhaust the list goes on. Cobra springs and upgraded shocks all round will be sitting on 13x7 +10 banded (widened) steel rostyle wheels with nankang 175/60/13. Custom door cards/ head lining, fishnet recaro front seats, had the rear seat match up with the recaro fabric. Full sound system including 12" soundstream sub, soundstream amp, soundstream speakers running off a pioneer amp, head unit. All running off a truck battery in the boot.

I'm sure I'll think of more once I start remembering, the car has been a way for a year waiting to be painted by the original owner who paints trucks and is also a diesel mechanic.
Now for some photos, I hope this is interesting for some people, but here she is.

What is left to do - Get the paint finished, put the lights and badges on the car, window seals and glass, set up the carb and get the wheels on. There is a little bit of work in the wiring and then some odd bits and pieces.

Thanks

While building this I found another one, a 1980 sedan with almost identical license plates. It was such a fun daily low/slow and very noisy.

The plan was to have the hatch back as the project and the sedan as my daily driver, funnily enough for such an old car I never once had any problems with it, other than it being a police magnet.

Unfortunately I sold it... I really should have kept it but someone made an offer I couldn't turn down. Was all original paint and body work with around 80,000 original kms on the clock (50,000 miles)

The clear coat is on, put all the door and glass seals in also the bonnet and hatch lid are on the car now.

What's left to do:

Rear side glass to go in
Carpet needs to be trimmed inside
Head lining needs sorting out
Front door cards need to be made
carburettor needs setting up and re jetted
Badges need to go on front and rear
Front and rear lights need to be installed
Wheels need to go on

And I think I'm ready to go, here are some photos

I dig it man. Thread is in the right place now (Other Cars), so someone may have moved it.

Anyway, I really like the spirit of the build here, a proper NA tuned car. Bet is sounds good, between the carb and the exhaust setup like it is...

Cheers thanks for the positive feedback, really is starting to feel like "my car" again after not seeing it for close to year due to paint guy being full on.
Definitely sounds the part, I remember doing the engine timing and my god it's a little beast,

More progress tonight, the rear glass is in and I painted the front section black the same as they come out the factory -
