Im running a 1.5JZ with a GE block, just got it started today and ran it probably 2 miles- had a small fuel leak so I had to park it. My question is, when I had the shortblock overhauled(new rings, rod bearings, main bearings, cleaned off pistons) I didnt have the squirters added to the GE block.

Would I be OK without them? What do the squiters do BTW?

Your fine. It would be more of a pain to add them then to just not run them.

They spray oil on the bottom of the pistons to help cool them down. Not necessary tho helpful.
