SS line on oil pump- now oil pan won't fit

So it sounds like contrary to the "how to improve the oil system" thread that the SS line and fittings aren't actually going to improve anything and that really the biggest and only boost that I'll get is from removing the pressure-based oil cooler lines and replacing them with 8-AN lines that...

SS line on oil pump- now oil pan won't fit

I installed the SS braid oil line that runs from the pump to the block (it's the one that DM sells and I think IdealSupra was the first to try this). It fits great, but now the oil pan won't fit. I can force it on there if I hit it hard enough but the holes won't all line up, I either get the...

Who's car is runing right now

So in July of 2007, I was driving along and I hear a bang, feel a bump, and then a crunch. I look in the rear view mirror, and there's my crank pulley bouncing down the freeway with the belts going everywhere! I've been building it since then and I keep adding stuff and not having time so it's...

    Help me find this wire!

I found it. It goes nowhere. That's right, this wire goes fucking NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have an '88 NA harness. I finally dug it out and took it apart. Underneath many layers of electrical tape, I found the O2 wires, just like on the '88 turbo harness. the shielding was spliced into a...

Help with one of the 4 bolts on turbo elbow

No, you really can't have too many tools. I tend to buy the whole set, so if I need a single wrench of a certain size, I'd rather get the whole set of them if I can just so in case I ever need a wrench like that in a different size then I have one. The only thing that I wish I had that I...

    Help me find this wire!

Still putting car together but I don't remember seeing that wire loose when I took the harness off so I'm at a loss as to what may have happened. there is no "other end" to it up near any of the plugs and there are no pins or splices that look like this cable may have been attached at one...

Help with one of the 4 bolts on turbo elbow

downpipe bolts are easy to get to under the car, but you'll need about 16" of extenders and a u-joint. If you remove the charcoal canister you can get to them all from the top of the car but it's harder. As for the elbow bolt, get a stubby wrench (I think that's what they're called, they're...

    Help me find this wire!

Ok, pics: In this pic, you can see the end of the O2 wire, which has an inner wire that's wrapped in some sort of shielding, TSRM says "noise filter" or something like that. This is what the wire would look like if you cut the O2 sensor wire and stripped it carefully. This is the other...

    Help me find this wire!

I'm fixing my wiring harness and I have found a single wire that I have not been able to identify, however in tracing it I have determined a great deal about what else is connected to this circuit and I am now thoroughly confused. First, the car is an '88 turbo MT Now, the wire in...

    Hood Sensor Question

that's the hood sensor. I have an aftermarket alarm wired into it. The thing that you're looking at is the plug for the sensor; the actual switch is underneath the black plastic piece. It's impossible to tell if the plug is damaged from that picture but there should be a wire hooked into it...

Painting your own stuff / Prepainted pieces?

For the bumpers you'll need an adhesion promoter (I think that's what it's called at least) that you spray on before you paint and then paint within the flash time of the adhesion promoter. Ask your paint shop which one is the correct one to use for your paint. Mine gave me a rattle can of...

prosport oil temp sender too big for any fitting that I've found, what to use?

seriously, has no one ever mounted an oil temp gauge to their engine before? All these oil system remote filter mods with big oil coolers that everyone seems to be doing, and not a single one of you has put in an oil temp sensor and can suggest a fitting that will work? I need 1/8" NPT that's...

prosport oil temp sender too big for any fitting that I've found, what to use?

ok, I know SOMEONE from here has to have a prosport oil temp guage installed on their supra sucessfully. here's the problem that I have: I got the gauge and the sender is too thick to actually go into the fitting that I have for it. I'm using the 1jz oil pressure sender extension hose that...

Anyone ever dye or paint their interior?

I dyed most of my interior (still have a few pieces left) and it's held up great for three years or so (and yes I have not finished the job in over three years, I'm that lazy). I used duplicolor vinyl dye and krylon fusion on the plastic pieces. I wouldn't dye the seats or seatbelts; it's...

Interior Dying / Painting Questions and pictures request.

I used duplicolor vinyl and cloth dye on my interior and krylon fusion for the plastic parts. I haven't done the seats, carpet, or headliner yet though. What I did was scrub everything with soap and water and then wipe down with rubbing alcohol to remove oils/residue/whatever junk. I then put...

    7mgte swap with w58

I have 7mgte with a w58 (car was originally NA). I have 3.5" catback. 3" dp, intake, ported head, and about 8-9psi boost and it holds fine. You'll need to upgrade the W58 clutch as it won't hold a turbo engine. You'll also need to use the W58 flywheel but it bolts right on.

    piston clearance

I've heard that for ROSS pistons, what about JE pistons? Would those also be good at .004 or should I go more/less? I just bought a set and I'm sending the engine out to the machine shop tomorrow.

need advice on my crank situation

I called the local machine shop at the Napa near my house and the machinist said he has worked on 7M's before. I told him my situation and he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. He said that the best thing for me to do is not to take apart the bottom end and just bring it in and let...

need advice on my crank situation

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided to go with the crankshaft from NAPA, although I need to talk to the machinist in more detail to determine exactly what he's going to need me to bring and what work I want done. I figured while the block is out I may as well have it cleaned, have the...

need advice on my crank situation

I recently had a little problem with my crank pulley flying off while I was driving down the freeway. As a result, the keyway on my crankshaft is all fucked up. I have decided to rebuild my engine as a result, but I have heard a lot of conflicting information on this through the judicious use...
