    Rear Subframe Removal Advice

Are you talking about the two bolts on the front bushing retainer plate or the bolts on the inner front bushings? Can't recall if they are accessible, but my car was extremely rusted when disassembling and I had no issue removing any of the subframe bolts. They are pretty stout and can take a...

Steering Freeplay and GR Heritage Parts

Haven't seen that fix, may give that a go and see for the short term. But yes, the shaft that's in the bay. With respect to ebay, I've seen it but I'm very wary of using a possible low-quality aftermarket replacement in a fairly critical safety system.

Steering Freeplay and GR Heritage Parts

I've seen this topic discussed before, but I think this warrants a new thread. I had been chasing steering freeplay for many years and after a new rack, bushings, bearings, ball joints, and tie rod ends, I have finally identified the culprit - the lower steering shaft. If you're chasing a...

Standalone Questions - Which to Buy

I'm 90% through my year-long wiring harness build for a maxxecu race (it's been both a fun and challenging experience building a harness the correct way). It's got virtually all the I/O capabilities I could ever want for this motor (sequential ignition, sequential injection, built in lambda...

    89 supra engine harness pinout

pm me your email. I rather painstakingly deconstructed and mapped out a stock 89t harness.

Photo of RHD 1JZ evap lines and charcoal canister

I'm in the process of simplifying my evap system and will be installing the 1JZ charcoal canister. Problem is, photos of the install are very illusive. I understand the canister exists somewhere behind the wheel well fender liner, but that's all i've got. I'd appreciate it if someone with a...

Can someone please just tell me the simple answer of what the wire gauge size is for the engine harness wires? Also, TXL or GXL?

If you’re looking for the actual wiring used for the harness to determine original wire size, it is all Sumitomo and for the most part still manufactured. Each wire has markings that indicate it’s size (and it’s not by AWG, all by mm2). For example if you look at an injector wire it will say...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

Batch of 10 arrived yesterday. Haven't popped the spacer off the pulley yet but the fit appears spot on. This will be welded to the pulley and I'll have to grind a bit of the timing cover as the OD is 72mm.

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

going to have 10 of these made, 12 tooth, 72mm OD. If you are interested, PM me for a price (it is quite reasonable).

Runnin a ffim on stock ecu

Q45 TB will cause the car to be jerky at low speeds. Don't run coolant lines as the TB has an internal thermostat to crack the throttle plate when cold to cause the car to idle up. The ISCV will take care of this function.

    The Small Questions Thread

But you still don't have an overflow tank? Do you understand how a cooling system is designed to function?

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

vpp is tied to the minimum speed of the sensor. Anything 40 and below is right around the minimum output (1vpp) at cranking rpm. 55vpp should give a clean signal while cranking. Not yet sure what the output of the stock sensor is, but I would imagine it might be even higher at the top end of...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

I ended up with the 3024 sensor, I actually bought it off of ebay. There are a bunch of suppliers here in North America - does Mouser ship over to you? My plan is to orient the sensor such that the long axis of the chisel is parallel to the rotation of the wheel, matching the width of the...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

I've got the Honeywell sensor on its way, so I should be able to mock up and test things over the next few weeks. I'm going to send 3pi a message with hopes that he can provide some insight into what voltage the stock vr sensor puts out to give me an idea of how I need to modify the settings in...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

What would you say the max od you could get out of the wheel? I assumed 76 mm would fit but it clearly doesn't. I'm trying to fit the biggest wheel I can - is 70mm od reasonable?

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

I'm going to be designing my wheel to mimic the 2JZ 12-tooth wheel as used on the pre-vvti motors (which used a VR sensor IIRC). As I'm on the AEM V1, I didn't want to modify the board to use a hall sensor. Looking at all of Honeywell's options, this sensor seemed to fit the bill the best...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

The plan is to use a honeywell 3024 vr sensor mounted to the exhaust side of the lower timing cover, identical to what negativegeforce did in his build thread. Did you have your gear water jet, laser cut, or machined?

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

Cps has 24 teeth, and rotates at half the speed of the crank, which is essentially 12 teeth on the crank. Going with 12 teeth and none missing will mimic the wheel in the cps, just with a more stable signal as there is no gear lash or belt slop. By the way, pre-vvti 2jz uses 12 teeth and a cam...

Request - crank timing pulley measurement

12 tooth ok? I'm going to make one for Enraged/Toby as well. I'll likely do a half-dozen or more and sell them off. For what it's worth, here are the measurements: 53.60 mm pulley od (once existing ring is removed) ‎2 mm thickness 65.0 mm outside diameter of ring (and trigger wheel, will...
