You're going to love it! The Blitz has a nice sound and the test pipe/down pipe combo helps as well. Are you using the stock elbow or does your down pipe have a wider integrated elbow? I have the integrated...pain in the a$$ to remove, but very nice now :)
Today....I cried :(
Just found out I have ANOTHER BHG! Just talked to the machine shop that did the work not but 7k miles ago and they said "we need to run tests again to ensure its not something else wrong before we do 'free' work".
Really?!? Leak down test bad and coolant in the cylinder...
I got the elbow off!!! Only took a week, 2 cans of PB, a torch, and an air hammer!!! YES!
Now, I have a new HFTE gasket from Suprasport on order, but I was wondering if I only need this or should I use a paper gasket also?
Thanks for everyone's help with this battle!
Poodles/Ron, I may as well try the torch. How flammable is dried PB? I cleaned all the residue off I could reach with a shop rag, but I want to ensure I don't set dire to the engine LOL
Dan, good idea. I will definitely try this tomorrow. Beating that damn elbow is just killing me....the biggest tease is my 3" exhaust system in the garage reflecting its new goodness and mocking me! LOL
oh! I thought of that briefly.... okay. I guess the hammer and I have a date again tomorrow!
Thanks all for your input on this...this really is tougher than I thought!
Damn...I swear this thing has turned into one single piece! Im about to take it to a shop and just pay someone else to take it off!
Will it damage anything if I drive without the exhaust and charcoal canister attached? Closest muffler shop is 8 miles away.
Thanks Poodles! Your right, I meant the elbow :p
Will do the hammer thing, just wasn't sure if there was more to it LOL
I'll have to post some pics of the old vs new as this was quite an experience working around the elbow!
Hey all, any tips getting the turbo knuckle off? I have the entire exhaust removed all the way to the darn knuckle, but after removing the 4 nuts holding in onto the turbo, I cannot get it to budge off. I have a new exhaust kit all ready to put in place!
Any tips would be great!
Welcome to the forum and glad you made it back home safely! Sorry to hear about the car....mine did kinda the same thing (blown head gasket ><). If your not familiar with the forum, read lots!!! There are many great people here that have a ton of knowledge and respond quite quickly. Also...
