might not even need to scotch bright it.. think first time to use the clutch it will be fine. bell housing is designed to catch clutch dust as it wears down, dont see how this would be any different. only part i would worry about is the spring in the clutch disc which look fine. Run it!

Was your cps set correctly? Make sure your engine has good grounds too. If all that is correct i would open the harness up and make sure no wires are broken or shorting out. Another was to check is after you try to start the car with no luck pull the #1 spark plug and verify that it is dry...
I'm not sure you guys have the room but i am using a Napa 6637 dry filter. its large but is thick and reasonably priced.
cross referenced the part numbers too in case you have connections through other avenues
